In order to ensure the representation of the diversity of people and the plurality of realities in Rideau-Rockcliffe, once elected, the Councilor will launch a call for nominations which will lead to the formation of an Advisory Board of five to ten people. The main objective of the committee will be to raise the voices of people traditionally excluded from civic debates. As a result, the recruitment and selection process will value applications from individuals with lived experience related to homelessness, affordable housing, substance abuse, or living with a marginalized identity as a newcomer, racialized person, LGBTQ2 person, or student. The advisory committee does not replace the role and importance the candidate assigns to existing community representation bodies. In conjunction with the mobilization of community associations, the Advisory Committee will serve to inform complementary perspectives to support the direction of Oriana’s actions at City Council.
