Ottawa needs a community champion like Oriana Ngabirano to promote inclusion, leverage data to implement cost-effective frameworks for infrastructure, public safety, health and education – and take the capital region one step closer to gender parity.

Oriana Ngabirano proudly announces her candidacy for the Office of City Councillor for Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward 13 in the upcoming by-election on April 15th, 2019.

Oriana is a proven communicator who will apply more than a decade of experience as a business consultant and social activist to address economic growth and social conditions through advocacy, engagement and action.

Oriana is uniquely positioned to represent Rideau-Rockcliffe at Ottawa City Council. She is a fluently bilingual reputation manager and public relations specialist who has worked for organizations ranging from the United Nations to British American Tobacco.

While governing, Oriana pledges to support public safety through proven prevention frameworks that have leveraged technology with anonymised data sharing to improve infrastructure spending and align the work of public service providers to assist at-risk residents and reduce crime. She promotes affordable transportation, urban cycling and timely access to community support.

She believes in fostering strong civic engagement through representation that reflects the diversity of society, including but not limited to, cultural and ethnic diversity as well as gender diversity.

“I actively advocate for authentic and fair representation. I believe inclusion is a way of thinking and demonstrating it advances universal acceptance and a sense of belonging.”

Volunteerism is an important part of Oriana’s commitment to public service. She is an active community member who sits on the board of two community organizations and is pro-actively involved with the De La Salle Public School council.

Oriana celebrates diversity. “When we take on the responsibility of governing, we must govern for all the people.”

Election day is Monday, April 15th, 2019.
